Accessible design
We are a leading consultancy specialized in the accessibility of the built environment for people with movement, sight or hearing difficulties. Our accessibility strategies begin with a thorough understanding of how people use and move through the built environment using innovative techniques of journey mapping and detailed site analysis. Through an understanding of how people with restricted movement, sight or hearing can interact and travel in cities we can create strategies that focus upon all users.
Through actions aimed at people with disabilities we are helping to create cities that are accessible to all and focused on the most vulnerable users. This is helping all people with temporary disabilities, the elderly, families, people with pushchairs travel safely.
As part of the leaders of Dubai's vision and objectives to make the city one of most accessible in the World in time for expo 2020 we have been involved in a variety of projects relating to accessibility for government agencies and developers in UAE. We are experts in the application and audit of the new Dubai Universal Design Code and have produced accessibility codes covering large areas of Dubai including many well known freezones, business and tourist areas.In addition we are the accessibility auditors for major area of the Expo 2020 site, reviewing buildings and public realm in readiness for the event. Our public realm design for the co-ex and UAE Pavilion will be examplars for Universal Design. We have also been accessibility auditors for Dubai Design District D3 and Dubai Internet and Media City.

Landscape architecture
We understand the role of landscape in making liveable communities at both the regional, city and neighbourhood level. Landscape architecture influences all our work, from landscape design proposals in the public realm to city-wide open space & landscape strategies. We design a variety of places of varying scale from detailed design proposals for streets and pocket parks to regional open spaces or large coastal rehabilitation zones. We consider landscape architecture to be a process for change as well as conservation and see landscape as a catalyst for renewal.
In Qatar, we are currently working on ensuring streets form part of a wider landscape strategy through our role on the programme management team for the country's largest infrastructure programmes. Design regulations
The implementation of high quality design & planning proposals is reliant upon a regulatory framework that enables flexibility & creativity whilst applying principles of good urbanism. Our directors have a wealth of experience in the preparation of design guidance and the application of innovative design codes and regulatory systems.
Place Dynamix have been working with the Government of Qatar to prepare a new framework for design regulations which we are now implementing at Qatar Economic Zone, providing a suite of urban design, architectural, streetscape, public realm and landscape guidelines and regulations. Master planning
Master planning utilizes the core skills and experience of our multi-disciplinary staff and is the physical representation of our combined knowledge in planning, economics, landscape, architecture, urban design and engineering. We perceive a master plan to be more than an image or an illustrated plan, and instead is underpinned with a thorough understanding of context, site analysis and market research. We create a variety of master plans for our clients, from mixed-use master plans in China to resort master plans in Mauritius.

Smart city planning that addresses urban growth holistically will support the effectiveness and efficiency of technological advances in smart cities. Smart planning embraces technology to improve urban conditions and lifestyles for urban residents.

We are currently involved in the smart redevelopment of a large area of Dubai that includes Media City and Internet City, the original smart districts of the city and home to a number of high technology conglomerates. We are also working on Citywalk and Dubai Design District which are being pursued as smart cities with a variety of smart technologies within the public realm and architecture. Tourism and hospitality
The tourism planning services we offer go beyond the master planning of individual resorts, hotels and other attractions to include strategic level plans for tourism across regions, cities and countries. Our team has experience studying tourism at the broader level, carrying out nationwide assessments of a country’s key assets with a view to increasing tourism numbers, revitalizing heritage areas, urban tourism, eco-tourism and responsible tourism that ensure icons of national pride are preserved.

We are currently active at the regional and local scale in diverse tourism locations and are assisting landowners in the Indian Ocean to achieve optimum and sustainable value from their landholdings.

Transit oriented
We believe the benefits of Transit Oriented Development (TOD) are at the very core of the economic, social and environmental pillars of sustainable development. When successfully executed in cities, these benefits can be realized by government authorities, private companies and local people. The most successful cities demonstrate that public transit is a vital element of. Conversely, the rise of auto-oriented cities has shown us that relying solely on this one form of transport is unsustainable. Road-based transport consumes disproportionately more space and energy, increases local air pollution, is more expensive and decreases opportunities for healthy lifestyles in addition to causing more fatalities than any other mode of transport.

Urban renewal
Our directors have cut their teeth working in some of the most challenging cities and neighbourhoods in the UK on regeneration projects in Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield and in China in the rustbelt of Liaoning and Shenyang city. The ability to reverse the trend of urban decay in urban environments is a challenging and rewarding process that requires the skills of our urban planners, designers and economists.

In Foshan, China we worked with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) to develop proposals to redevelop an urban industrial waterside location into a vibrant mixed-use neighbourhood with waterside walking routes and heritage uses. In Qatar we have worked with the government to prepare area action plans to revitalize important downtown locations in the capital city, Doha.

Urban planning
Our team has a thorough understanding of planning practice, policy and philosophy. We have worked on planning frameworks, structure plans and spatial development plans in a variety of contexts from the UK to Australia. A number of our key staff have backgrounds in urban planning with an in-depth understanding of spatial as well as economic planning considerations.
Notably, our directors were involved in the production of the Qatar National Master Plan, a three year project aiming to fulfill the country’s national vision and improve the quality of life for all residents. The project provided the planning, design, branding, training and development management tools for Qatar including a suite of strategic documents, legal policies and area action plans.
