Metropolitan, town and local centres
The concept of developing new mixed-use centres or strengthening existing ones is fundamental to our city planning process and solutions. We believe the encouragement or renewal of centres is the most effective means of distributing population growth to sustainable locations and addressing the problems of transportation and movement.
Our tested method of centre development is founded on principles of good planning & design and has been successfully implemented in a number of cities. These sustainable planning & design principles include the grading of density towards centres, mixing of uses, permeable network of pedestrian friendly streets. These are all principles aimed at creating centres with a vibrant public realm that is walkable, active and complimentary to the existing community.
